Looking to create a new site to house its festival coverage, the Ottawa Citizen launched the Digital Lounge brand in 2011. As sponsor at many Ottawa festivals, the Citizen ran multiple promotions and contests which needed a new home. Digital Lounge website and at on-site booths were the perfect platform for those activities.
Digital Lounge site was designed to showcase the best of festivals busy coverage, while keeping it organized and clean for the reader. Considering the growing number of mobile users, it was designed as mobile-first site, while gracefully expanding and presenting more content for tablet and desktop.
The effort helped to brand the Ottawa Citizens Digital Lounge as the place to go for local festival coverage.
Due to its success a sister site was created for Montreal Gazette arts coverage. Since Digital Lounge was running on Wordress, which was new for our editorial team, we designed and created and operation manual to ease and streamline their posting process.
